Ok, this blog will dedicate to dispel the myths of the mystery of 6222... Shimin, i actually thought you will like the seminar haa.. esp the 2nd part of the talk.. too bad you wasn't there.. maybe not so much for zh and donny.. anyway..
Personally went down and had a feel of the seminar of 6222.. For many, apprehension and disbelief overpowered them abt the credibility of the organization of 6222. True to a certain extent, this 2-session seminar talk is actually not that useless after all, and i think i learnt something from it, or at least i thought i learnt something from it. And yes, it may be a cheap way to get ppl to come down to these seminars and get them to sign up for certain courses, i think that's the whole purpose of the seminar, but, the ultimately, the power lies in ur hands whether you want to sign up for their courses or not, which of course, i didn't.
The 1st seminar was abt effective interview skills. Ah, what a coincidence considering that i went to an interview course last week. The difference is 1 cost 27 bucks, this is FREE, and hence the big gulf in quality. I thought i was the fastest speakers until i met donny and then later rebecca.. haa.. but this person trash us all.. The speed he is talking is almost as fast as his sweat dripping and flying down his cheek and onto his neatly ironed suit. He was trying to use NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) to explain how to ace an interview. And until the end, i still dunno wat the hell he was talking abt. I thought i had made a wasteful trip down. Only just.
The 2nd part of the seminar saw the arrival of Peter Tan, a millionaire. He was going to give a talk on entrepeurnership, and on how we should become an entrepreneur and earn our 1st million. He made my trip worthwhile in the end. He littered his speech with thought provoking life analogies and oh my, how well he did. I'll just list down some of the better ones that i thought so:
1) People suffered from split personality w/o knowing it, because pple suffering from split personality himself/herself will never know it. He used a simple test for us. 1st qn he asked: "How many of you want to be an millionaire?" 100% of the room raised their hands. 2nd question: "How many of you had did something or put in extra to become a millionaire?" 5% of the room raised their hands. Hence, 95% of us suffers from split personality according to Peter Tan. One personality of us wants to be a millionaire, and yet another personality of us are doing nothing to acheive that goal. You can never become a millionaire unless you do something abt it.
2) 80% of the world worked their socks off for the 20% in the world to help them sustain their status of million/billionaire. 20% of the people in this world owned the rest of the world's wealth. Do you want to become the 80% category or 20% category? He said before he left his civil service job, his mentor asked him "Peter, do you want to be a cow or a horse?" A cow, slogs his life off for 30 years for his boss, and the boss in the end, gave him a pat on his shoulders and commented "Well Done" (And he mentioned jack's place and how you ordered your steak, medium rare, rare, well done etc, haa..) So when a boss squeezed your last breath of effort out of you, you are finished and hence "well done" and boss are luffing at you, the stupid cow. Or a horse, a workhorse or a race horse? A race horse of course. Pampered, well-taken care of, and you run when there's only a need to and run at the precise right moment. So you want to be a cow or a horse?
3) He asked a coke lover out and placed 3 cans of coke in front of him.
1st can: You are thirsty and at a hawker centre and u ordered a can of coke to quench ur thirst. How much does the coke cost? "$1" the coke lover said.
2nd can: You are again thirsty and now u are at sentosa and again u ordered a can of coke. How much does it cost? "$2?" the coke lover said.
3rd can: You are still thirsty and now u are at ritz carlton and again u ordered a can of coke. But this time, u din open the coke urself cos the waiter would have opened for you. How much does it cost? "$5" the coke lover said.
Moral of the story?: There's no difference between the 3 cans of coke, but why such price difference? Similarly, there's no difference between a millionaire and you, so why can't you be a millionaire? You only need to package yourself differently and you'll be the ritz carlton coke, but basically, you still taste the same as everyone else.
4) Peter went to suntec with his wife and brought his maid along. His maid told him there's 1 fountain whereby if you walked 3 rounds around it, you'll become a millionaire the following day. So peter went with his maid to the fountain and his maid dutifully walked 3 rounds around the fountain. And a miracle happened. What's the miracle?
Peter picked up an empty glass and struck it with his pen. A "ting" sound. Subsequently, he held it there, and of course, no sound came off. "If you can hear a sound w/o me striking it, then its a miracle". So what miracle happened to his maid? Several of us tried to guess but all wrong. The miracle is, the maid still remained as his maid the next morning.
Moral of the story: You have done nutting to earn it. There's no cause n effect relationship at all. If it was that simple, all of us could juz pack up and walked 3 rounds around the fountain and we could become millionaire.
5) This analogy is the best among all:
You are a newly wed couple. And you just bought keys to a dream apartment at the 72nd floor. You and ur partner arrived at the apartment only to discover that the lift is spoilt. No choice you have to climb the stairs.
21st lvl: Couple was so tired and decided to drop everything down that they were carrying.
45st lvl: Couple was exasperated and started having a go at 1 another, "why buy this apartment etc"
60st lvl: Couple already so tired. No strength to open mouth. "Silence is golden"
72st lvl: Couple finally reached the top to their apartment. So relieved and happy. But.. what happened????
They realised they left the keys to their house at the 21st lvl when they were so tired that they dropped everyting down that they were carrying. Can they go back down to retrieve it?
All of us, have our dreams and aspirations when we were young. Be it doctor, lawyer etc. But most of the times, the path that we ultimately choose is not what we would like it to be. At 21, we have the key to pursue the dream we want but often, we are suayed by cirumstances and by ourself and we dropped whatever we are carrying in our hands for our dreams and choose the easy way out. By 45, you are neither here nor there, but only to keep on going. At 60, you are already too tired to open ur mouth, having slogged 1/2 of the life doing things that you might not like to do. And at 72, you look back to ur life, and u ask urself, "Why did it take you 50yrs to realise that you should not have drop ur dream at 21?" We should live with no regrets. There's no way you could have wind the clock back 50 years and start all over again. Pursue your dream now.
6) His last analogy. A person died and went up to heaven. He saw angel and the angel asked him if he had any regrets in his life. He looked back at walk of life and saw 2 sets of footsteps. 1 was his, the other was his mentor. The footsteps followed him all the way until he died, but there was 1 period where 1 set disappeared mysteriously at when he was 37, and then reappearing there after. He told the angel: "37, i was at the lowest point of my life. Business failed, bankrupt, and my mentor choose to leave me at this pt in time, there was only 1 set of footprints." The angel replied, "No your mentor didn't. At 37, ur lowest point in life, he carried you along. The set of footprints was his, not yours."
Moral of the story: All of us will stumble at some point in life. There is a thin line between success and failure. To succeed, you would have to find that set of footprint that can carry you when you are down, to follow you through in times of crisis. You will succeed in the end.
